A trademark is a sign that distinguishes the goods and services of one trader from those of others. Typically a trademark can be words (including personal names), indications, designs, letters, characters, numerals, figurative elements, colors, sounds, smells, the shape of the goods or their packaging or any combination of these. A sign must be capable of being represented graphically in order for it to be registered as a trademark.
The trademark owner has an exclusive right to use the mark on his goods or the services for which the mark was registered. The trademark owner can take legal action to stop anyone from using his registered sign without his consent.
Trademark Registration Flow
Trademark search -> Initial application -> Substantive Examination -> Publication -> Issuance of Certificate
Validity period and Renewal Period
The registration is valid for 10 years and renewal application for 10 years can be submitted 6 months before the expiry date.
Hong Kong Trademark Registration Fees
Official Fee & our service charges:
Total: HKD 4,700.00* first class
Each additional class in same application: HKD 2,100.00.
Estimated time: around 6 months (from filing until registration and provided there is no official action)
Non-official identical search for word mark: free of charge.
China Trademark Registration Fees
Official Fee & our service charges:
Total: HKD 4,700.00* (covered 10 item of goods/services per class)
*TAX: HKD 200.00 for each additional item of good if excess of 10.
Estimated time: at least 18 months (from filing until registration and provided there is no official action)
Optional: Official search for device mark: HKD 2,500.00 up per class
Non-official identical search for word mark: free of charge
Taiwan Trademark Registration Fees
Official Fee & our service charges:
1) Application: HKD 5,600.00*(covered 20 item of goods/ 5 item of services per class)
2) Registration and certificate fee: HKD 1,400.00 (for 10 years)
Estimated time: around 9-12 months (from filing until registration and provided there is no official action)
Optional: Search report (per mark per class): HKD 1,400.00 for word mark.
Disbursements such as incidental expenses and courier fee are not included in above quotation.

But not included of notarization fees and legalization fee if required. Additional costs will be payable if official objections and/or opposition are raised during the prosecution process.
The applicant should furnish us with the following information and documents:
- The applicant’s full name and address in English/ Chinese (BR Copy)
- Specification of goods/services (in English and/or Chinese)
- Specimen of the trademark (prefer soft copy in JPG format)
- Application Form
- Executed power of attorney (the blank form will be provided by us)
- Priority document in English/ Chinese (if priority is claimed)
Remarks:
- Above Charges included of official application, publication, registration fee and our service charge in a straightforward case. Additional costs will be payable if official objections are raised during the prosecution process.
- Please note that quotation are standard only for straightforward cases, it is not covering costs to be incurred in overcoming any objections and/or oppositions raised by the Patent Office/Intellectual Property Office or third parties.
- All there costs are subject to change if there are sudden fluctuations in exchange rates and/or increases in associates’ charges and official fees. The minor disbursements such as copying, faxing, postage, courier, bank charges are not included and will be separately itemized in our invoices for overseas applications.
